Warranty Management for Electrical and Lighting Brands

A consumer brings a failed MCB to your service centre with a warranty claim. Your team has no record of the serial number. The unit is a counterfeit. But the consumer has a valid-looking receipt. Acviss links every warranty claim to the authenticated unit that was sold, so this situation stops before it starts.

The Cost of Warranty Fraud

Counterfeit Electrical Goods Are Creating a Warranty Fraud Crisis

Warranty fraud in electrical goods happens in two ways: consumers submitting counterfeit products under a genuine brand warranty, and duplicate claims on a single genuine unit. Both cost your aftersales team money and time. Linking every claim to an authenticated unit eliminates both.

How Warranty Fraud Reaches Your Service Centre

Five Ways Your Warranty System Gets Abused

Counterfeit Units Claiming Warranty

A consumer buys a counterfeit MCB or switch at a local shop. When it fails, they bring it to your service centre with a genuine-looking receipt. Your team has no way to verify if the unit is real without a physical authentication check.

Fake Serial Numbers on Counterfeit Products

Counterfeiters use known valid serial numbers copied from your authentication database. The number passes your service centre's basic check. Only anomaly detection across the full scan dataset catches that the same serial number is appearing in multiple locations.

Duplicate Claims on a Single Genuine Unit

A single genuine unit is used to file multiple warranty claims over its lifetime, sometimes by different people in the trade channel who have access to the original invoice. Without a system that marks a unit as claimed, each claim looks legitimate.

Out-of-Warranty Claims with Altered Purchase Dates

Altered purchase receipts or invoices are used to make an expired warranty claim appear current. Without a system that ties the claim to an authenticated purchase event with a confirmed date, your service team has to take the paperwork at face value.

Trade Channel Warranty on Unverified Stock

Distributors or retailers submit warranty claims for units that were never sold as new or that came from grey market stock. Without unit-level authentication linked to each warranty claim, these claims are indistinguishable from legitimate ones.

FAQ

Things Electrical Brand Aftersales Teams Ask Us

Assist prevents fake warranty claims by requiring every claim to be linked to an authenticated product unit. When a consumer or trade buyer presents a product for warranty service, your technician scans the unit's QR code. The Certify system verifies whether the unit is genuine and whether the serial number has been seen before. Counterfeit units fail authentication and cannot open a claim. Duplicate serial numbers are flagged as anomalies. Only genuine units with a clean authentication history can proceed through the warranty workflow.
Yes. When a consumer scans the product QR at any point after purchase, Assist prompts them to confirm their name and contact number. Warranty registration is then created automatically, linked to the authenticated product unit. No phone call, no warranty card, no website form. Your service centre sees the registration in the Assist dashboard immediately. The consumer receives a confirmation on their phone. If the product is later presented for service, your technician can pull up the warranty record by scanning the same QR code on the unit.
Assist supports trade channel warranty registration where the electrician, contractor, or distributor registers on behalf of the end consumer at the point of installation. The trade buyer scans the unit, enters the installation location and consumer contact, and the warranty record is created. Your service team can see which units were registered through the trade channel versus direct consumer registration. For commercial projects where many units are installed, Assist supports bulk registration where a trade buyer registers multiple units from a single session linked to a project record.
When a counterfeit unit is scanned, Certify returns a failed authentication result. Assist does not create a warranty record for a unit that fails authentication. The consumer sees a message indicating that the product could not be verified and is directed to contact your brand protection team. Your brand protection team receives an alert with the scan location and time so they can investigate the source of the counterfeit unit in that geography. This data helps your team identify which trade channels or dealers are stocking fake product.
Yes. Assist's reporting module lets your aftersales head generate warranty status reports filtered by batch, by product line, by region, or by registration date range. A batch-level report shows how many units in a batch are registered, how many are approaching warranty expiry, and how many have active service claims. These reports help your planning team anticipate service demand and spare parts requirements before peak claim periods. Reports are available in the dashboard and can be scheduled for automatic delivery to your aftersales team on a weekly or monthly basis.
