From the Acviss Team
Spending an incredible day at TAF Connect 2026, organised by ASPA. One line from the opening address by Rajesh Kumar Mishra, Director of the Indian Institute of Packaging — IIP, summed up the direction the industry is heading:
"Packaging, design, and technology together can make things much more difficult for those working against the interests of consumers."
That thought came up repeatedly throughout the day. We spoke with several label manufacturers and anti-counterfeit solution providers here. A lot of the conversations centred on the same practical challenge: how to add authentication without disrupting existing label production or supply chains.
It was also good to hear perspectives from other speakers and experts during the knowledge-sharing sessions. The discussions ranged from packaging innovation to real-world implementation of anti-counterfeit measures. Always useful to exchange ideas with people working on the same problems from different sides of the industry.

Key Topics from TAF Connect 2026
State of Counterfeiting in India: ASPA–CRISIL Report 2025
The CRISIL study surveyed 1,639 respondents and found that 89% of Indian consumers have encountered counterfeit products and 35% admitted to purchasing one in the past year. Sector-wise exposure: apparel (34%), consumer durables (31%), pharmaceuticals (28%), FMCG (25%). Online aggregators account for 50% of reported counterfeit sources — reinforcing the urgent need for digital authentication and traceability across both physical and digital retail channels.
Pharma Without Compromise: Serialization & Patient Safety
Panel discussions highlighted the role of serialization, authentication labels, and digital verification systems as critical tools to protect patients from counterfeit medicines. With pharmaceutical counterfeits posing direct public health risks, brands are accelerating investment in compliance infrastructure including end-to-end track-and-trace from manufacturing to patient.
Adding Authentication Without Disrupting Supply Chains
A recurring theme across conversations with label manufacturers was how to integrate anti-counterfeit technology into existing label production workflows without re-engineering supply chains. White-label authentication platforms — where label manufacturers serve as channel partners — emerged as the practical path to scale adoption across brands of all sizes.
