Supply Chain Traceability for Agrochemical Brands
A regulator asks where your last batch of herbicide went. Your distributor says it reached the state depot. Three dealers say they never received it. Origin tells you exactly where it is, at every step, in real time.
The Agrochemical Supply Chain Has a Visibility Problem
Distribution heads who cannot see their product after it leaves the plant are flying blind. The consequences range from regulatory penalties to farmer crop losses to brand damage that takes years to repair.
Five Supply Chain Failures That Traceability Prevents
Counterfeit pesticide bottles look identical to the original. The AI concentration is 30-50% lower. Your product gets the blame when the crop fails.
Counterfeiters replicate your label, batch codes, and hologram to the pixel. At a rural dealer, your distributor's rep cannot tell the difference.
Agro inputs sold in markets where they have not been registered. Farmers spray a product not approved for their crop or climate zone.
Recalled or near-expired product re-enters the supply chain with altered lot numbers. Your brand gets linked to failed crops.
Former toll manufacturers produce and sell your formulation under your label. They know your packaging specs and your distributor network.
Traceability Is Not Optional in These Markets
Agrochemical traceability mandates are tightening. If you sell in India, the US, Europe, or export globally, your compliance head is already tracking at least two of these.
The Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee requires every pesticide product to carry a valid registration certificate. Each label must show the CIR number, approved use pattern, and safety directions. Selling under your registration without your consent is a criminal offence under the Insecticides Act 1968.
Every pesticide distributed in the US must be registered with EPA. Registrants must control their label. Unregistered formulations or misbranded products attract civil and criminal penalties.
Products must receive member state authorisation before sale. Article 64 requires product records to be maintained at each supply chain step. Unauthorised parallel trade between member states is explicitly prohibited.
The Code requires that pesticide containers be identifiable throughout the distribution chain and that supply chain integrity be maintained from manufacturer to end user.
Origin. Certify.
Two products that give you full visibility from manufacturing plant to farmer. Origin tracks every batch through your distribution network. Certify gives each unit a digital identity that verifies at the point of use.
Origin records every scan event at every node in your distribution chain. When product goes missing, gets diverted, or shows up in the wrong market, you know immediately. When a regulator asks for chain-of-custody records, you pull them up in seconds.
- Blockchain chain-of-custody from plant to retailer
- GPS-tagged scan events at every distribution node
- Automatic alert on cross-border or cross-territory diversion
- ERP integration for existing SAP and Oracle users
- Distributor onboarding with basic smartphone scanning
- Audit trail export for CIBRC and EPA inspections
Every pack gets a unique digital identity. When combined with Origin, Certify extends traceability all the way to the individual unit, giving you visibility right up to the moment the farmer opens the pack.
- Unit-level unique QR code per pack
- CIR number linkage for CIBRC compliance verification
- Farmer scan-to-verify with no app required
- Scan event data feeds directly into Origin traceability
- Works on bottles, sachets, pouches, and cartons
- Batch reporting dashboard for QA and compliance
