Authentication Is the Last Line of Defence at the Point of Sale

Every step in your supply chain is a potential entry point for fake product. The only way to catch a counterfeit at the point of sale is if the pack itself can prove it is real. That is what authentication does.

Where Authentication Catches Counterfeits

Five Ways Fake Product Gets to the Farmer Without Authentication

Diluted Active Ingredients

Counterfeit pesticide bottles look identical to the original. The AI concentration is 30-50% lower. Your product gets the blame when the crop fails.

Cloned Packaging

Counterfeiters replicate your label, batch codes, and hologram to the pixel. At a rural dealer, your distributor's rep cannot tell the difference.

Grey Market Cross-Border Diversion

Agro inputs sold in markets where they have not been registered. Farmers spray a product not approved for their crop or climate zone.

Expired Stock with Re-stamped Dates

Recalled or near-expired product re-enters the supply chain with altered lot numbers. Your brand gets linked to failed crops.

Parallel Manufacturing

Former toll manufacturers produce and sell your formulation under your label. They know your packaging specs and your distributor network.

Regulatory Requirements

Authentication Supports These Compliance Obligations

In every major agrochemical market, label control is a legal requirement. Product authentication is the mechanism by which you prove your label is controlled.

INDIA CIBRC Registration: Insecticides Act 1968

The Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee requires every pesticide product to carry a valid registration certificate. Each label must show the CIR number, approved use pattern, and safety directions. Selling under your registration without your consent is a criminal offence under the Insecticides Act 1968.

Certify links each pack's QR to its CIR number so retailers and farmers can verify registration on the spot.
USA EPA FIFRA: Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act

Every pesticide distributed in the US must be registered with EPA. Registrants must control their label. Unregistered formulations or misbranded products attract civil and criminal penalties.

Origin's chain-of-custody logging helps registrants document that their authorised label reached the end user without tampering.
EUROPE EU Pesticides Regulation 1107/2009

Products must receive member state authorisation before sale. Article 64 requires product records to be maintained at each supply chain step. Unauthorised parallel trade between member states is explicitly prohibited.

Origin's cross-border scan tracking flags when product authorised for one member state is scanned in another.
GLOBAL FAO/WHO International Code of Conduct

The Code requires that pesticide containers be identifiable throughout the distribution chain and that supply chain integrity be maintained from manufacturer to end user.

Certify's unit-level digital identity maps directly to the Code's traceability requirements for agrochemical products.
What Acviss Does

Certify. Phantom Code.

Two authentication layers that work together. Certify gives every pack a digital identity that any farmer can verify. Phantom Code adds a covert layer that investigators use to confirm authenticity even when the QR has been copied.

Digital Authentication
Certify

Every pack gets a unique QR code linked to a live database. One scan tells a farmer or dealer in under five seconds whether the product in their hands is genuine. Counterfeit packs fail the check because their codes either do not exist in the database or have already been scanned elsewhere.

  • Unit-level unique QR code per pack
  • One-scan-per-pack flag to detect reprinted codes
  • CIR number linkage for on-the-spot CIBRC verification
  • No app or login required for farmer verification
  • Works on bottles, sachets, flexible pouches, and cartons
  • Works reliably on 2G networks in rural areas

Covert Authentication
Phantom Code

A hidden security layer on your label that counterfeiters cannot see or reproduce. Your field investigators use it to confirm product is genuine even when the overt QR has been replicated. It adds a second authentication check that no counterfeiter knows to defeat.

  • Non-cloneable covert security embedded in the label
  • Invisible to standard cameras, scanners, and print equipment
  • Verified by authorised field investigators via secure app
  • Layered with Certify QR for dual-level protection
  • No change to your existing label design or print process
  • Ideal for high-value or high-counterfeiting-risk SKUs

FAQ

Things QA and Brand Protection Teams Ask Us

Yes. For farmers without a smartphone, Certify offers SMS-based verification. The farmer sends the pack's serial number by text to a short code and receives an instant reply confirming whether the product is genuine. This covers areas with basic feature phones and works on any mobile network. No internet connection is needed for SMS verification.
Yes. Certify labels are available in flexible formats for laminate pouches, foil sachets, and co-extruded bags. The label material is selected to adhere to the pouch substrate without cracking or peeling under agrochemical storage conditions. We run compatibility tests on your specific packaging material before deployment to confirm adhesion and scan reliability.
The QR code alone is not the security. The QR is a pointer to a unique serial number in a live database. When a pack is scanned, the system checks whether that serial number exists, whether it has already been scanned, and whether the scan location matches the product's expected territory. A counterfeiter can copy the QR visually, but the copied code will either not exist in the database or will trigger a duplicate-scan alert. Phantom Code adds a second, non-copyable layer for high-risk SKUs.
Operationally, false positives on Certify are near-zero. The system checks a live database of genuine serial numbers, so a genuine pack will always verify as genuine. The only path to a false positive is a data entry error at pack registration, which is caught at QC before the product ships. Phantom Code has a confirmed zero false-positive rate in field conditions.
